The government plans to gradually install CCTV cameras at examination centres across the country as part of a zero-tolerance policy against cheating in public examinations, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has said.
"Authorities are giving serious consideration to installing CCTV cameras at different exam centres across the country to ensure a fair and transparent examination environment," he said during a post-iftar discussion with members of the Education Reporters Association, Bangladesh (ERAB) at the official residence on Mint Road in the capital today (14 March).
"The government prioritises maintaining a proper examination environment. In this regard, education administration officials, teachers and other concerned persons must play a more responsible role," he said, warning that strict action would be taken against those involved in cheating or any irregularities.
"Once the cameras are installed gradually, opportunities for cheating or other irregularities during exams would be significantly reduced," he added.
Responding to questions from journalists, the minister also said, "The government is planning to increase the use of modern technology in the education system to ensure greater transparency. The initiative to install CCTV cameras is part of that broader plan."
