Biman gets new MD, DMD

Kaizer Sohail Ahmed has been appointed as the managing director (MD) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited on a contractual basis. 

The appointment was confirmed today (7 April) through an official order issued by the Ministry of Public Administration. The appointment is for a term of one year, effective from his date of joining.

The appointment comes with the specific condition that Kaizer Sohail Ahmed must sever all current employment ties, including any other profession, business, or roles within government, semi-government, and private institutions or organisations.

The order further noted that other terms and conditions of the appointment will be determined by a formal contract and that the directive has been issued in the public interest.

Kaizer Sohel Ahmed holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics from the Bangladesh Air Force Academy.

He is a seasoned project management professional with nearly three decades of experience in the energy sector. He has spent over 28 years at Chevron, where he currently serves as Facilities Engineering Project Assurance Team Lead in Bangladesh. 

Over his career, he has held key roles in project assurance, risk management, capital stewardship, supply chain, and procurement, both locally and internationally, including assignments in the United States, Singapore, and Thailand.

Ahmed has been involved in several major multi-million-dollar projects, including the Bibiyana Gas Plant and its expansion. His expertise spans project management systems, operational excellence, and large-scale ERP implementation.

Syed Moinuddin Ahmed appointed deputy managing director 

The government has appointed Syed Moinuddin Ahmed as deputy managing director of Biman Bangladesh Airlines on a contractual basis for a period of one year.

According to an order issued by the Ministry of Public Administration today (7 April), the tenure will be effective from the date of his joining. 

According to the order, the appointment is subject to the condition that he must relinquish any engagement with other professions, businesses, or any government, semi-government, or private institution or organisation before assuming the role.

The order further states that the detailed terms and conditions of his employment will be determined through a formal contract agreement.
