Full marks for two flawed HSC Physics questions, pass mark effectively falls to 13: Milon

only 13 marks in the Physics First Paper to pass after the government decided to award full marks for two erroneous questions in the examination.

Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced the decision during a question-and-answer session in parliament today (14 July).

He said all examinees would receive full marks for questions 6 and 7 of the creative section after serious errors and inconsistencies were identified in those questions.

"As the two questions together carry 20 marks, candidates will effectively require only 13 additional marks to reach the 33 marks needed to pass the subject," he added.

Addressing complaints that parts of the Physics examination were outside the syllabus, the minister said the question-setting and moderation process had begun nearly two years ago under the previous administration, while the current government had assumed office only four months ago.

Earlier, concerns were raised over inconsistencies in the HSC 2026 Physics (Theory) First Paper. The authorities have since issued show-cause notices to those responsible for preparing and moderating the question paper.
