In 2022, Bangladesh girls won the South Asian championship for the first time after defeating hosts Nepal. Again against the same opponent and at the same venue, Sabina Khatun's side won their second consecutive SAF Championship title. They stunned the hosts at the Dashrath Stadium to beat Nepal 2-1 in the SAFF final. The first half of Bangladesh-Nepal was goalless in the SAFF Championship final. Desperate for a goal, both teams settled the match after the break with counter-attacks. Following that, Monika Chakma took the lead for Bangladesh in the 51st minute.
