 Army Chief General Walker-Uz-Zaman has said that every member of the Bangladesh Army is always ready to accept the highest sacrifice in order to maintain the sovereignty and independence of the country. He said this in a statement on the occasion of Independence Day on Tuesday (March 27th).

In the message, the army chief said, "Great Independence and National Day." The importance and significance of this day in our national life is immense. On this day, the liberated people of this country had jumped into the armed struggle against the Pakistani invading forces to free the chain of subjugation by shoulder to shoulder. Long nine months of bloody struggle was achieved by our final victory and our beloved homeland Bangladesh was ranked as an independent country on the world map. This is why 'March 21' will be the eternal source of glory and inspiration in our national life. In this auspiciousness of Independence Day, I extend my sincere greetings and life congratulations to all the members of the Bangladesh Army.

"I remember with deep respect in this Mahendrakshan of Independence and National Day, those who have achieved our beloved freedom in exchange for the sacrifice of Suman."
