Today is March 25, the Great Independence and National Day. On this day of the year, the thousand -year -old Bengali nation gained independence by breaking the chain of subjugation.

On March 25, the Pakistani military conducted an unprovoked genocide on the Bengalis 'Operation Searchlight' in the then East Pakistan when Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was arrested in addition to the murder of innocent, unarmed Bengalis and then on March 25 (March 25)The then Major Ziaur Rahman declared independence from the center.Which spread throughout the country through the then EPR transmitter. 

Later, in a notification published on January 22, this day was celebrated as National Day in Bangladesh and the holiday was officially announced on this day.

Earlier, despite the Awami League's majority vote in the general election of 9, the Pakistani army started genocide on Bengali civilians without transferring the Pakistani military junta power to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The main goal of their campaign was to indiscriminately kill all conscious citizens of the then East Pakistan.  

The then Major Ziaur Rahman declared the independence of the Bengali nation. In the continuation of this, after a long 6 -month bloody war, on December 5, the new state of the world made a new state on the map of the world, called Bangladesh.  

National level

A detailed program has been adopted at the national level to celebrate the great independence and national day. On this day, the day will start with artillery 5 times in the morning, including Dhaka. With the sunrise, the President said. Sahabuddin and chief adviser. Muhammad Yunus will offer floral wreaths at the National Memorial in Savar. Then the Birshrestha family, war -torn freedom fighters and hero freedom fighters will be laid. People from all walks of life, including foreign diplomats, various political and social organizations located in Bangladesh, will pay homage to the freedom fighters in the great liberation war. 

On this occasion, all government, semi-government, autonomous and private buildings, with the sunrise, national flags and easily visible buildings in Dhaka city were hoisted. Improved in important buildings and establishments. 

Today is a public holiday. On the occasion, the President and Chief Advisor made the message. The newspapers are publishing special articles, articles and literary magazines on this day, highlighting the significance of the day. On this occasion, electronic media are broadcasting various programs based on a month -long liberation war. 

Florals will also be offered at the memorial of the district and upazila. At all departments, district and upazila levels of the country, the national flag will be raised, the national anthem, the rally of the students of the educational institutions will be held.

At the same time, welcomes will be given to the freedom fighters and members of the martyr family in metropolitan, district and upazila. Special prayers and worship will be organized in religious institutions, seeking peace, prosperity and progress of the country. Special food will be served in all hospitals, jail, child families, old homes, workers and children's day care centers.

All children's parks and museums in the country will be open and visitors will be able to enter without a ticket. Bangladesh Navy and Coast Guard ships will be open from 8am to 2pm tomorrow at Chittagong, Khulna, Mongla and Pigeon Ports and Sadarghat in Dhaka, Pagla of Narayanganj, Barisal and Chandpur BIDBITA Ghat. Similar programs will be observed at the district and upazila level and the Bangladesh Embassy located abroad.
