Iran's Araghchi discusses West Asia situation with India

 

The conversation is significant as India has stepped up its diplomatic efforts to keep the Strait of Hormuz — a key lifeline for oil and gas supplies from the Persian Gulf — open for safe and unimpeded shipping.

Last week, two energy-carrying ships bound for India reportedly came under fire from Iran's Revolutionary Guards, drawing "deep concern" from New Delhi.

The conversation is significant as India has stepped up its diplomatic efforts to keep the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi yesterday (29 April) spoke by phone with his Indian counterpart, S Jaishankar, and held a "detailed" discussion on the current situation in West Asia.


"Had a detailed conversation about various aspects of the current situation. We agreed to remain in close touch," Jaishankar said in a post on X.
