Navy Medical College inaugurated in Ctg

 


The medical college is equipped with modern laboratories, a well-stocked library, advanced classrooms and a team of experienced faculty members, ensuring quality academic delivery.

A newly built medical college under Bangladesh Navy was formally inaugurated in Chattogram today (29 April), marking a new addition to the country's medical education and healthcare infrastructure.


Chief of Naval Staff M Nazmul Hassan inaugurated the medical college at Bandar Tila, adjacent to BNS Issa Khan in the port city, according to a press release.

Speaking at the inauguration, the navy chief said the college would play a significant role in strengthening medical education, research and training, particularly in the southern part of Chattogram.

He added that the institution would contribute to producing skilled, ethical and professional doctors, enhancing the medical capabilities of the armed forces while also supporting improved healthcare services for the general public.


Other officials said the college will focus on developing competent medical professionals capable of delivering effective treatment across diverse and challenging conditions.

It will also promote research and specialised training in disaster response and infectious disease management - areas considered critical for Bangladesh's coastal regions.


Senior officials from Naval Headquarters and Chattogram naval area, along with military and civilian guests, healthcare professionals, educationists, students, guardians and media representatives, were present at the event.

Developed under the supervision of the Bangladesh Navy, the college aims to deliver modern medical education supported by advanced infrastructure and training facilities.

The institution has already completed its admission process in line with the standards set by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council and Bangladesh University of Professionals.


Academic activities have commenced for the current session with 50 civilian students enrolled in the five-year MBBS programme.

Authorities expressed hope that the disciplined and professional environment maintained by the navy would help the institution emerge as a key contributor to the country's healthcare sector.

  গ্রেপ্তার তরুণীকে কারাগারে প্রেরণের নির্দেশ দেন আদালত। বরিশাল নগরীর একটি আবাসিক হোটেল থেকে হানিট্র্যাপ চক্রের এক তরুণীসহ দুইজনকে গ্রেপ্তারের কথা জানিয়েছে মহানগর পুলিশ। পুলিশ জানিয়েছে, ফাঁদে ফেলে এক যুবকের কাছ থেকে টাকা ছিনিয়ে নেওয়ার অভিযোগে তাদের গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়। রোববার (৮ মার্চ) দুপুরে তাদের আদালতের মাধ্যমে জেলহাজতে পাঠানো হয়েছে। এর আগে শনিবার (৭ মার্চ) রাতে নগরীর গির্জা মহল্লার একটি আবাসিক হোটেল থেকে তাদের গ্রেপ্তার করা হয় বলে ভাষ্য পুলিশের। গ্রেপ্তাররা হলেন, মিলিতা দত্ত ওরফে ম্যালাইসা ও সান্টু হাওলাদার। এই ঘটনায় ভুক্তভোগী সিরাজুল ইসলাম বাদী হয়ে কোতোয়ালি মডেল থানায় ১১ জনের বিরুদ্ধে মামলা করেছেন। ওই মামলায় হোটেলের মালিক ও ব্যবস্থাপকসহ আটজনের নাম উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে। মামলার এজাহার সূত্রে জানা গেছে, বরিশাল সদর উপজেলার রায়পাশা কড়াপুর এলাকার বাসিন্দা সিরাজুল ইসলামের সঙ্গে আব্দুর রহমান নামের এক ব্যক্তির পূর্ব পরিচয় ছিল। শনিবার বিকেলে জরুরি কাজের কথা বলে সিরাজুলকে গির্জা মহল্লা এলাকায় ডাকেন রহমান। রাত ৯টার দিকে তিনি সেখানে গেলে তাকে ওই হোটেলের চতুর্থ তলার একটি কক্ষে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়। সেখা...
